Disney is a paradise of fun, fairytales, fantasy and affection. A goldmine of love stories and enchantment for children, families, adults- anyone really!
My whole life, I have adored Disney. The Little Mermaid being my all time favourite, followed by The Aristocats and Oliver & Company.
Now, I treasure all classics; Pocahontas, The Lion King, Aladdin etc. whilst also being a big fan of the recent Pixar releases such as Finding Nemo, Wall-E and UP. Anyone who knows me knows how I’d much rather watch a Walt Disney animation than any other film type. Even my iPod is packed of the Disney soundtracks and I have perfected every word from my favourites.
No matter how much admiration and fascination I have for the films, I will never be able to overcome the matter than Disney has unfairly represented many races and gender in their films. The illustrations, voices and behaviour of some characters is undoubtedly far from Politically Correct, often untrue and offensive, resulting in a never-ending uproar within the media and Disney’s very own audience.
I’d like to share my views and by reading through websites, blogs, forums, essays over the matter, I think it’s time for me to join in and give my opinion too!
